Due to the impressive performance of Whales football team, they had been into the semifinals of Euro 2016 to face Portugal, the only football team to reach Quarter finals of every Euro Cup tournament since 1996 in a row. Whales has entered the semi-final round for the first time in major European tournament since 1958 after stunning Belgium by 3-1 in the quarter finals. Thus, Whales carried the emotions and optimism of their entire Nation.
The Fairytale Ends for Wales
Christiano Ronaldo remained a big threat for the Chris Coleman’s side so does his magnificent header enabled Portugal to take the lead after the deadlock till 50 minutes. Just after three minutes, Ronaldo’s shot was diverted by his Manchester United’s team-mate Luis Carlos Nani. Whales miserably failed the energy and strategic game of the suspended mid-fielder ‘Aaron Ramsey’ and of course the Real Madrid forward, Gareth Bale. As a result, the crucial battle did not turn into the favor of Whales. Hence, the semi-final ended with a final score 2-0 with Portugal reaching the final of Euro 2016. Portugal will now face the host country of tournament France in Stade de France on Sunday which would be a thrilling match between the two teams.
However, this was a tournament when Ronaldo was performing at its best, scoring only two goals in last five matches but the leader’s goal against Whales led them to the final. At last, he delivered when his team desperately wanted a goal. His goal against Whales equalizes the Michel Platini’s record of 9 goals in the European tournaments.

Portugal Played without their mid-fielder
Portugal was playing without their mid-fielder William Carvalho as he was suspended and the famous defender Pepe who failed to recover in time from an injury. Thus the Portugal was not expected to beat Whales but their compassion have turned things into their way. Two powerful attempts from distance were made by Bale but that was a late flourish but the night belonged to Portugal who would have to contest France in the final for the Championship. Despite Whales have lost the game but their fans were incredible who again stood up to support their football team. As the defeat becomes inevitable for Whales, their fans showed appreciation for what they have achieved after reaching the semi-final round.
The score between Portugal and Whales remain 0-0 by the first half of the game. 5 minutes after the restart, Portugal wins a free-kick from 40 yards. Joao Mario swings the ball in which was headed by King for a corner. The corner was passed shortly and then swing in by the left footer for which Ronaldo leaps above all and past the keeper with his brilliant header. However, there are also some players that cannot even kick a ball that much hard as Ronaldo does with his head. The first goal for Portugal has obviously changed the game and now Whales really needs to get out of their defending shell to get forward in order to equalise.
Another goal scored by Luis Nani
A couple of minutes later, another goal was scored by Ronaldo’s former team player Luis Nani. The goal comes when a cross was headed away from the left to Ronaldo who then shoot the ball from outside the box and then Nani slides it in to past Hennessey who dived to the right in order to save Ronaldo’s shoot. The second goal from Portugal puts Whales into real trouble as Portugal gets totally in charge. The match carries on and two brilliant shoots were fired by Bale but it was too late for them to get over the match. At last, the final whistle blows and Portugals went into the final of Euro 2016.
